Globe Entertainment/Encore Productions was founded in 1983 by its current president, Kosta Kantzoglou, and has successfully instilled itself as a frontrunner in Greek live event production in North America ever since. In time, Globe extended its scope through management and representation of esteemed international artists and through successful productions and presentations of theater, dance and variety shows in venues ranging from the House of Blues to the Roy Thomson Theater to the highly esteemed Metropolitan Opera House in NYC.
Globe’s most significant productions include:
- In 1994, Globe produced “Dalaras Sings for Cyprus” to a 22,000 sold out crowd in Meadowlands Arena in New Jersey. The event was presented to raise awareness for the Cyprus cause and included Al Di Meola, Nana Mouskouri, the Katsimiha brothers and George Dalaras.
- In 1997, “The Concert of Hope”, which included George Dalaras, Vasilis Papakonstantinou, Eleftheria Arvanitaki, Alkinos Ioannidis and Lakis Lazopoulos, was presented to a 20,000 sold out crowd in Madison Square Garden in NY, to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House and Greek kids suffering from cancer.
- In 1999, Globe produced one of the most successful Greek tours in North America to date, with George Dalaras and Katerina Kouka. The Radio City Music Hall event of that tour was deemed the single most successful concert event to take place in Radio City, at that time.
- In 2003, the Cultural Olympiad and the Ministry of Culture of Greece commissioned Globe, to present a Greek variety event with the purpose of promoting Greek culture to non-Greek audiences and raise awareness for the Olympic games scheduled to take place in Greece the following year. The event was held at the highly prestigious Metropolitan Opera House in NYC and included well-known artists, such as George Dalaras, Savina Yannatou, the American Ballet Theater and Costas Gavras on direction.
The end of the first decade of the new millennium finds Kosta Kantzoglou and Globe Entertainment doing what they have always done best: producing quality art events, opening the industry to new and emerging artists, developing new career options for existing artists and reinventing the industry in whole. With a new office location in 2009, extended partnerships with professionals all over the world and a new agenda to push the world-wide live performing industry toward a new direction while relocating its success and quality of the past, the future, although challenging, appears as fruitful and intriguing as it has ever been.
